As many people already know, my mom has been in the hospital for the past 21 days. She was taken by ambulance on June 23 to Reading Hospital after my Dad found her on their bedroom floor. When arriving at the hospital she went into cardiac arrest and her heart had to be shocked. From there we learned that she had a stroke, and that she had a blood clot in her bowel and her leg. She spent time in ICU on a ventilator and was rushed into surgery to remove the clot from her bowel. She developed a hematoma at the incision. She was on a blood thinner (heparin) via IV to stop anymore clots from forming, as of yesterday the heparin has been stopped because her hematoma is bleeding and causing her blood count to drop. She’s had 2 blood transfusions since being admitted. Right now with the heparin stopped, to let the hematoma heal we are faced with the clots in her leg have gotten worse but surgery is too risky, and taking a chance that she will form more clots that could kill her. This has been an emotional roller coaster for all of us. Especially our Dad. He himself has suffered a couple strokes himself and has long term effects from them. With our mom being in the hospital, dad hasn’t been able to work as much because he wants to be with his wife, and last Friday the one vehicle they had, the motor blew up. I’m asking for donations to help my Dad pay some house bills, medical bills and money towards a vehicle so he can get to the hospital and get to work.
