Hello Friends, We are reaching out for support for Mike and his medical needs. Mike is a loving husband and father. Mike has always been a hard-working provider for his family. Recently, due to serious medical diagnoses, this has changed. If you can help, it would mean the world to this young family. With even the smallest donation, Mike could focus more on his medical needs and less on his financial needs. If you’re not able to help financially, the family would so appreciate your prayers for Mike, Mike’s donor and their medical team. Below is a summary of how quickly life has changed for Mike and his family. Snapshot of the last five months: In February Mike went to the ER with shortness of breath. Tests revealed that he was in complete kidney failure, kidney function was 8%. He was hospitalized, and prepped for surgery. We were told he has end-stage Kidney Disease and will need a kidney transplant. He has had several surgeries since, kidney stone removals, which allowed his kidney to regain some function now operating at 12%. Fistula surgery is completed, and he’s preparing for home hemodialysis. The doctors worked very quickly to get him on the transplant list, kidney and pancreas K&P. Thankfully, Mike has a donor match and testing is in progress!! Mike has worked extremely hard on eating completely clean, to keep his eGFR at 12, every single point counts. His latest blood work showed a low platelet count, therefore a bone marrow biopsy is scheduled for July. Mike is a fighter, his goal is to prolong the need for dialysis which requires 6 weeks of training, 5 days a week, 4 hours a day. Dialysis will remove him from work again, and also require Selina as caretaker to be present, which is another hardship on the family as no children are allowed. Through all of this, sometimes several days a week spent at appointments, the family has been blessed with a wonderful community support system. But… As uncomfortable as it is to talk about money, even more so asking for assistance! The family needs your help. Short term disability doesn’t cover the cost of living, they have exhausted their savings. *Mike has gone back to work as long as he’s able. Selina is working where she can. So we humbly ask for your help during this time. Anything helps! Any funds received will go to monthly expenses (things that short term disability doesn’t cover @ 40%), out-of-pocket medical expenses for co-pays and prescriptions add up, travel to transplant center etc. We greatly appreciate any amount laid on your heart. Most importantly we appreciate and encourage all the prayers, even sharing this story will provide prayer covering for Mike, his donor, the surgical team and the family during this journey. Mike and Selina know that this battle belongs to the Lord. They are doing everything they can to prolong Mikes's health while he waits for his new kidney. This journey is just beginning and they are believing in God to direct their path and restore Mike fully! Thank you for reading, sharing and the prayers! God Bless you.
