Truthfully, I'm not sure if these ever get fully read but here I go: Hi, my name is Pat Rice and I'm here to talk about my Uncle Kevin. Kev turns 65 this year in September. We're planning on seeing Peter Gabriel in Philly to celebrate. He's going to hate all the things I'm about to write out... Sorry Kev. In March of 2024, he made a flight down to Orlando to meet his nephews kids for the first time. Just a month later, his standard doctors check up found something strange in his blood results. June 2024, we learned that Kevin had been diagnosed with Blood Cancer. Multiple Myeloma. The silver lining is that Kev is in good health otherwise. Ideally, this is something we can treat and keep up with for years to come. July 2024, Kevins liver is failing. Less than a month after his diagnosis. Currently, we're not even sure the 2 things are related. They've found lesions on his pancreas too, which may be more cancer. He was living in Alaska in 1992, when his dad died suddenly. He moved back to Pennsylvania to take care of his mom. He's been there ever since. Still taking care of her. Our family is small, and finacially far from extravagant. He has been the sole source of income for their home for the last few decades. He's been an hourly employee for Home Depot for years now and loves the work. Kev is a good person. Cliche to say but there is really no other way to phrase it. He doesn't burn bridges, he's kind to everyone he meets and you'd be hard pressed to find someone with anything bad to say about him. He's a private person, hence the reason he will hate this. It is currently unclear what insurance will cover. All we know for sure is, he won't be able to work during this learning period and treatment. This LFEBridge is to look for support in paying additional medical bills, and making sure thier roof stays over their head. If you've ever lived paycheck to paycheck, you know what it can feel like when you suddenly miss one let alone multiple. It is insane that you have to fundraise to survive a medical event, but here we are. I'm not above asking for help especially for my family. Please donate what you can to make sure he can get the help he needs, and he and my grandmother don't lose their home. Thank You
