Update. I want to let everyone know that Kevin passed away yesterday. He fought hard against this disease. I have been fortunate to never have the need for a Go Fund Me, but now our family is enduring a hardship. My children's father (my exhusband) of 18 years went in for an umbilical surgery on May 31st. When they opened him up, they found metastatic cancerous tumors. What should have been a standard surgery led to major changes in my family's life. They sent off the biopsy and discovered it was Stage IV Liver cancer. We are grief sticken to find out there is no treatment at this stage and he is now on Hospice. Kevin did not drink or partake in any behaviors that have led to this health issue. He has been with the same company at Tulsa Tech for the last 26 years and is a hard worker. We have applied for Social Security Disability, but they are very slow at processing and he is running out of vacation and sick days. We have filed FMLA for him in the meantime, but as you know, FMLA is without pay. We are trying to handle two households and still care for his needs. We are slowly and painfully coming to the realization and acceptance that we can do nothing but try to make him comfortable while consoling our children I know money will not change that, but it will allow him to continue to pay mortgage, utilities, food, and any copayments that are required to uphold our households.
