My nephew, Kendrix, is 3 years old. Just 2 months ago he was a wild and rambunctious toddler who loved being outdoors. Everything changed on June 15, 2024, when he developed a fever, and just did not seem like himself. After a long hospitalization, we learned that he was suffering from the effects of the Eastern Equine Encephalitis - a virus that attacked his brain and has left him in a new born state. At this time, Kendrix is incapable of sitting up, walking, talking, or eating independently. It has been determined through a series of medical examinations conducted in the inpatient hospital setting that he is unable to hear or see at the present time. He requires 24 hour care, and receives his daily nutritional intake by way of a G-tube due to the fact that he has to be trained to eat. Other impairments include, but not limited to, increased tone in all extremities, spasticity, and excessive drooling.  The doctors said they have done all they can for Kendrix, and the next stage is his rehabilitation. Now we have to work hard for him, and give his fragile body time to heal! Our goal is to be able to purchase a van with wheelchair access, a crib/bed, and other needed items that may arise due to the long road ahead of his recovery. Any and all donations are a blessing to our family in this time of need! No donation is too small or too big! Thank you in advance from his loving family, and God bless each and everyone of you!♥️
