As some may know, my sister has been struggling with health issues for several years. In 2014, during her first pregnancy, she developed symptoms which were later diagnosed as PSC (Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis). PSC is a rare inflammatory disease of the bile ducts which leads to liver damage. Unfortunately, there is no cure for PSC. Our only options are to treat the symptoms which will ultimately lead to a liver transplant some day. Since 2014, Kendra has had a few flare up that she has managed with ERCP procedures. She was usually down for a couple of days but would bounce back pretty quickly. However, that has not been the case for the last flare up. Around Easter of 2024, Kendra’s health started to decline rapidly. This was no ordinary flare up, and her whole body has been affected. In the past year and a half, she has had constant lab work, multiple ERCP procedures, multiple thoracentesises to have fluid drawn off of her lung, multiple shots in her eyes due to visual impairment, among many other complications and testing. She has been to several doctors/specialists in Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee. With each visit, we are disappointed with the lack of answers. Kendra is not the typical patient, and everyone continues to call her a puzzle. Right now, the only option they are giving us is a liver transplant. We are looking to postpone this option as long as possible if we can. Therefore, her Dr. has now referred her to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota to see if they can give us some answers as to why her body is betraying her. She will be traveling to Mayo at the end of August and staying for about a week in order for the specialist to run all their testing and procedures needed. This is our next step in trying to get her relief and giving her her life back. With all the specialists/appointments, procedures, and medications, the financial aspect has become quite large. I am starting this page in order to help relieve some of the stressful financial burden from the medical bills. We understand that times are hard right now for many and any monetary donations big or small will be greatly appreciated. If you are not able to donate, I ask that you please keep my sister and family in your prayers. If this year and a half has taught us anything, it is just how POWERFUL prayer really is! Thank you to you all and I know my sister would be just as grateful as well! ❤️
