Hi, my name is Kolby and I want to share a story with you about a beloved friend of mine, as well as many of yours, Kyle Swierczewski. Kyle is going through one of the toughest battles of his life right now. Through decades of friendship, and many personal obstacles we have had to overcome, he remains more like family than a friend, and his well-being means everything to me. In May 2024, Kyle started noticing that his ‘sore throat’ was lasting a very long time. Despite many trips to the ENT and Urgent Care Centers, Kyle was left with no diagnosis of the pain he was experiencing, and the pain was increasing every day. By the end of the month, Kyle was unable to swallow water. He went back to the ENT where they took another look and the doctor noticed that there was something that he needed to biopsy. But they refused to schedule this as an urgent matter and couldn’t schedule the biopsy until July 27th. With the amount of pain, and inability to eat or drink, there was no way that Kyle could wait that long. After more calls and an ER visit to AHN, Kyle’s chart ended up in the hands of a nurse navigator at the cancer center. Within 24 hours that angel of a human had him scheduled for a biopsy in Pittsburg 5 days later. On June 22nd, Kyle was diagnosed with stage 4 throat cancer. Finally, after all the consults and insurance authorizations that come with cancer Kyle, was able to start chemo and radiation last week; which will be a very hard and painful 7 weeks of treatment. Due to the location of the numerous tumors, he is unable to eat and did have a feeding tube placed. Pride runs deep within Kyle, and he has always been hesitant to ask for help, even from those closest to him. That's why I am stepping forward on his behalf because I know he and his loving family need all the help they can get. Kyle is determined to approach this fight with dignity, refusing to give in to past struggles. He is fully committed to overcoming the odds and emerging victorious in this battle. Even with insurance, it doesn’t cover all the necessary treatments that are needed in this fight. Chemotherapy treatments and supplies for the feeding tube are not covered and have an astronomical deductible. On behalf of my family, I want to express our heartfelt gratitude for any help you can provide. Your generosity will be a beacon of hope and strength for Kyle, reminding him that he is not alone in this fight. Together, let's show Kyle that love, support, and compassion can make a difference as he battles for his life. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. I truly and wholeheartedly appreciate you taking the time to read Kyle’s story. Due to the treatment that is in progress, the family has requested that any outreach or communication with Kyle be limited, as even speaking is very difficult at this time.
