DONATE

Hi hi, I'm Ely, and if you know me, you know I am currently in a difficult situation. I have run out of places to stay, and I hate asking for money, but I need your help to survive the week and stabilise my situation.  There are two main stages to this: 1. Getting a place to sleep, and to work productively. This lasts a week, potentially up to two. 2. Making it to the US, where I can survive for three months through the generous and kind support of friends. I know I often seem relaxed and confident, but things have gotten pretty bad. Every donation buys a little more Ely energy and will make an unimaginable difference to my life. I will never be able to fully express how grateful I am and your generosity will stay in my mind for the rest of my life.  Here's what each donation gets me: £5 ($6.30): Food for a day £10 ($12.60): Food and coffee while I work in a cafe £30 ($38): a night in a hostel £70 ($89): a night in a hotel, where I can de-stress and recharge. £450 ($570): a flight to the US and other transport costs Beyond this, everything will be put into the things needed to make Ely thrive. To those friends who have already helped me out: thank you, I love you, I am forever indebted to you as a matter of principle. To those who donate: I may never meet you or even know who you are, but when I have rebuilt my life I will be sure to pay it forward, your kindness a moral beacon that will up the world. To those who cannot donate, but offer moral support: Thank you. Your time has value, and the knowledge that others care is the fuel that burns when all others have been depleted. I'd like to share Alexandra Rowland's essay on what "hopepunk" means, as a guiding principle I live by.  You grit your teeth, and bear the pain, and keep going: One star at a time, one brick at a time, one step at a time. You can do a lot when you decide to be a stubborn motherfucker who refuses to die.
