Hi, all. Those of you who know me know how close my mom and I are and also know how many health struggles my mom has had throughout her life. As a homebound individual, Karen has faced so many barriers to accessing quality healthcare and we are facing one of our biggest at this time. While her husband/my father Mark and I are training to provide hemodialysis to Karen in our home (and get Karen back home with her beloved kitties and her bird!) she will need to temporarily stay in a skilled nursing facility that can provide her with ambulance transport to-and-from the dialysis center for training and treatment. This stay is uncovered by insurance, and will be $200 per day out of pocket (like a very expensive hotel room!). This cost does not include the ambulance transport, but we're hopeful that portion may be covered by insurance. Updates to follow. Right now, we're unsure how long the training will take but estimates from her provider range from 4-8 weeks. That means a bigger expense than we've yet faced as a family, and that is why we are reaching out for help. Thank you in advance for reading and for even considering donating, Ann, Mark, and Karen
