Update 10/29/23: A message from my sister: I would like to thank everyone for keeping me in your thoughts & prayers, messaging, calling & visiting me, and for donating & contributing to help me through this difficult time. It means more to me than you can imagine and I'm truly humbled and blessed with the amount of love and support I have received from my family, friends, & my community. There are no words to express how thankful I am. Please know that I am extremely grateful and love you all. I wanted to update you all that I have completed my cancer treatments and am now recovering at home. I am focusing on healing and building up my strength during my road to recovery. Aloha, As some of you may know, my sister, Kandi Nakamoto has been recently diagnosed with Breast Cancer. In March, she discovered a lump in her breast. After having a biopsy, her doctor diagnosed her with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. After receiving this diagnosis, she was referred to an oncologist in Oahu. Immediately after her appointment, plans for surgery and treatment were made. In May she underwent a Partial Mastectomy. After the surgery, she has been traveling back and forth to Oahu due to surgery complications. In August, she will be traveling to Oahu to stay there for Cancer treatments indefinitely. With all of this said, she is confronting the most significant challenge of her life. The emotional toll and physical demands of treatments, surgeries, and appointments are immense. Despite the hardship, she faces each day with unyielding determination and strength. She is the mother of two daughters that are attending college and this means the absolute world to her. Since my brother-in-law has been unable to work due to a work injury, my sister has been the sole provider for her ʻohana. She has been unable to work since May. Since being diagnosed, she has been immensely stressed. Anyone who knows Kandi knows that she is passionate about helping others, but now she needs our support. In this crucial time, we seek your support in any form possible. Your generous donations will directly contribute to covering medical expenses, including treatments, travel expenses, therapies, and post-operative care. We want my sister to focus on her healing and well-being without worrying about any financial burden. Beyond financial aid, your words of encouragement, prayers, and love mean the world to her. Leave a heartfelt message to uplift her spirits, reminding her that she is not alone in this fight. Knowing that she has an army of caring souls standing beside her will fortify her determination to overcome this battle. Our love for my sister binds us together as a family, and we believe that no challenge is insurmountable when faced with unity and compassion. We humbly ask you to join us in this LFEBridge campaign to support my sister's journey to victory over breast cancer. Please share this campaign far and wide with your network of friends, family, and colleagues. Together, let's create a ripple effect of kindness and awareness, reaching everyone who can contribute a little love to this noble cause.
