My name is Shawna Little and I am the sister of 36yr old Jacob Albright. On July 20th 2024, Jacob Albright died while in police custody. He was arrested on a “weapons offense” and improperly and insufficiently searched. He was then placed in police custody and during transport and arrival to the Kenosha co jail, he was able to end his life with a firearm undiscovered by police. It is the duty of police to serve and protect, and they failed to do so. Without their gross negligence, this death would not have happened. If a proper and efficient search was preformed, our brother, uncle, son and friend would still be here. With this, my family and I are struggling to find the words to describe how hurt we are for the unfortunate loss of Jacob. Jake was a sweet but troubled soul who has struggled through life battling mental and behavior health issues. Jacob desperately searched for treatment however, being state insured, it left him with little to no providers and months of waiting on the back burner. Jake would take the shirt off his back for anyone suffering and more times then not, took better care of others, then himself. He was genuine, artistic, intelligent and witty. He’d make you laugh until you cried. He wanted everyone to be happy. Jake brought out the fun side in everyone. The heart of a big kid, made of gold. He didn’t, and shouldn’t have had to go out like that. He will be so dearly missed by many. All of our family is trying to be here for Jake in this time. So we can advocate for him and get the justice he deserves. The funds will be used to help the family relieve the financial pressure of travel expenses, court fees, cremation services, and all other financial burdens related to this situation. We would all like to thank you for your condolences, kind words and donations. It means everything to the family. Thank you so much, God bless.
