1 in 8 females will be diagnosed with breast cancer and this last May, my sister, Julie Urich, was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. As a nurse practitioner, I am compelled to help my patients thrive in life. The diagnosis of cancer automatically adds significant stress. Add on the stressors of paying rent, food, transportation, utilities, and caring for children, cancer patients find they are unable to find rest and relief they desperately need to allow their bodies to fight cancer, let alone heal from the treatment. Sadly, the rate of mortality among cancer patients increases with the increases in stressors they must overcome. Everyone who knows Julie (Jules) knows the fire, the energy, caring and love she has for everyone she encounters. Jules is currently in school to become a clinical psychiatrist and researcher all because she is passionate amount the mental health of others and seeing people win over life’s mental battles. She is a single mom who adores her 6-year-old daughter Izzy who is the light of Jules’ world. I have started this LFEBridge account because I see Jules trying to fight her breast cancer and undergo 2 years of treatments including chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery. She does this while also attempting to care for Izzy, pay her bills, get to all her appointments, go to school and still reach out to others and encourage. Dealing with the side effects of treatment is making this extremely difficult. We all know the cost of living in Colorado, and I humbly ask for support from you in any way possible to reduce the financial burdens and stress Jules finds herself in along with the future stresses of medical bills and upcoming surgeries. Help Jules fight cancer, focus on healing and rest, and breathe deep that she has support from friends and family to pay the mounting costs of f’ing Cancer.
