Hello, My name is Becca and as many probably know I am Josh's sister. Unfortunately we are here yet again and I am trying to do any and all I can do to help Josh and my parents as we navigate this medical emergency. Josh was diagnosed with a Stage 3 Anaplastic Astrocytoma in August 2016. He underwent a craniotomy brain surgery where they discovered they unfortunately could not remove much of the cancerous brain tumor due to stroke risk being very high. He then underwent 1 year of chemotherapy and radiation and did well for a little while. Fast forward to August 2024 and after a routine MRI, Josh had a massive stroke and has had permanent left side impairment which has left him unable to work. Along with the stroke they discovered a second tumor grew and the cancer had returned. Josh again went through chemo and radiation along with tons of physical therapy and was living in a rehab for a few months until he could return home. Fast forward to now, after a routine MRI in January it was found that the cancer was active again and there was tumor growth. Josh began chemotherapy again, but is inelligible for radiation and any further brain surgeries at this time. A biopsy was done on the tumor pieces from 2016 and they found the best chemotherapy for his mutation. Josh has been on chemo since and was doing well until this past weekend. A third tumor has grown and his tumors have stopped responding to the chemotherapy and have grown which has caused brain swelling and the tumors to bleed. He will be starting a new clinical trial in the coming weeks and we are hoping and praying with all we have that this trial can treat and cure this cancer. Many family members and friends have asked how they can help and I hated to create something like this again, but felt it necessary and know without a doubt that Josh and my parents would help anyone else in need at anytime. Josh will be traveling to Jefferson Hospital in both Philadelphia, PA and Washington Township, NJ frequently for treatments and infusions. This will require travel, parking fees, gas, and missed work for my parents. Josh's diet must also completely change which is going to add extra costs for my parents to provide him with much healthier options possibly including pre made meal deliveries that are not cheap. In addition to everything going on with Josh, we also received bad news about another family member and without going into too much detail my Mom will be requiring a lot of out of state travel which will be requiring even more missed work and things like that. Above all we are asking for prayers for Josh, our other family member, and our family as a whole. This has been very difficult watching Josh suffer and he is trying so hard and his strength and perseverance throughout this whole thing amazes me everyday. Josh would do anything and everything for anyone else even a stranger and he does not deserve all of these unfortunate events to continue happening. Some people are uncomfortable with LFEBridge donations due to fees so if financially able some other options would be grocery gift cards or gas gift cards to help offset costs in those areas. I can provide an address where it can be sent or I can pick up for them. Thank you all for your continued love and prayers throughout this entire process. We are so grateful for everything that everyone has done along the way!
