Hello Everybody!! My friend and I are wanting to help out one of our dearest friends and her family by taking some financial stress off their shoulders so they can concentrate on the healing of their daughter. Last week their daughter Jordyn had went to camp and had herself a blast. They picked her up Thursday the 13th, and on the way home she started complaining of left hip pain. By Friday she was not eating, and the pain was worse so they took her into convenient care, she had a 101.5 temp at that time they checked for strep(which was negative) and sent her home with a diagnosis of a probable pulled muscle. The weekend had no improvement still not eating, low grade temps, lots of hip pain, and not wanting to walk on it. They took her back in Monday this time they did an X-ray of the hip (which was normal) they were told that she just needed some physical therapy, which they declined knowing it was more than a pulled muscle. Later Monday evening (only about 5 short hours later) she became so cold she was shivering and finger tips turning blue and so they took her to the ER. They did a CT scan which revealed a bacterial infection in her hip along with 2 blood clots. 2am Tuesday morning they ended up having to life flight her to children's hospital in Omaha. Once at children's they did an ultrasound of her hip/legs along with an MRI and tons of blood work. Labs showed she had bacteria in her blood (still unsure of the cause at this time). They put a PICC line in and began treating the infection with IV antibiotics and started her on Heparin for the clots. She had a temp of around 104 and a pulse in the 140s most of the day, but late Tuesday afternoon it finally seemed to be slowly coming down, her pulse remains high at about 130 and BP continues to drop, and her O2 has been struggling to stay above 90 so she has been on oxygen since arriving at children’s. They will meet with the infectious disease team later this week for hopefully more definite answers as to what kind of infection is causing all this. They will be staying in the ICU for now until her vitals are more stable. Anything you can do to help this wonderful family would be so very much appreciated. Whether you can or can’t financially help them we do ask everyone to please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they continue to try and get some answers!
