My name is Bob Capone My brother, John lost his wife, Karen Capone in a 6 month battle to cancer. She was the love of his life and like a sister to me. She had a larger than life personality and to know her was to love her. With her unforgettable and contagious laugh, she brought fun to every occasion. During her battle, Karen never complained. She was brave and fought like a warrior. Unfortunately, Karen lost her fight and she passed on April 21st 2024 surrounded by her family at her home in Peabody, MA. The very next morning due to his unimaginable pain and sorrow, her husband (my brother) suffered a massive stroke on April 22nd. He underwent Surgery at Lahey Hospital where they had to perform emergency surgery where they removed part of his skull. He suffered loss of speech and paralysis of his right side. He was sent to Spaulding Rehab for a month and is now continuing his recovery at the Brentwood Rehabilitation in Danvers. He has a long road ahead but is working hard on his speech and has physical and occupational therapy 3-5 days a week. MGH is making a prosthetic bone and we are hopeful that come September, he will be well enough to have the surgery to replace it. Then he will continue this recovery in a rehab until he is strong enough to come home. As you can imagine, not only the grief we’ve endured but also the cost of all of this is taking its toll. We are hoping with the generosity of many great friends and family to pitch and give my niece, Nicole some sigh of relief. She and her father have not had time to mourn the loss of Karen together. Nicole, who not only took care of her mother while in hospice, is now caring for her father every day. She has been their rock, but she needs help. My family and i would be so grateful for even the smallest donation. With love and gratitude, Bob Capone and family
