Jocelyn Thomas Goins aka “Ms. J.” is currently fighting stage 4 breast cancer. Jocelyn has been an educator with G.I.S.D. for over 25 over years. Most recently serving as AP at Ball High School and working with the truancy division making certain kids attend school. Jocelyn is well known throughout her community and in addition to always being active within the community through various organizations, she organized and implemented SAFE PLAY, a midnight basketball program to keep kids off the streets. She’s been active as a family shelter case manager helping to keep families off the streets for 15 years. In order to focus on her treatment, Jocelyn has had to take a leave of absence from work. Treatment for metastatic breast cancer can often be harsh and unforgiving. Dealing with stage 4 breast cancer and the side effects of its treatment aren’t the only burden she will bear. Having already raised her own 2 daughters, Dana & Iesha in 2009 Jocelyn opened her heart and her home adopting 3 siblings, Maria 2, Cearia 7 and Kayla 9. A cancer diagnosis turns a person’s world upside down--emotionally, physically and financially. Mounting medical bills, prescriptions, mortgage, utilities, groceries special food needs and care etc., etc. All add up rapidly. Although she is actively fighting this stage 4 cancer battle, Jocelyn remains upbeat with a positive outlook on her prognosis. Her friends and family decided to come together to help her with the cost if it all so she can concentrate on beating cancer! Cost for treatment, prescriptions and household expenses are mounting so we are asking the community to help her fight this battle without having to compromise or worry about the care and upkeep of her family. Any donation will be greatly appreciated. If you can't donate now, please share and send a prayer to Jocelyn for a healthy and speedy recovery! As little or as much as you can donate towards her cause will help assist offsetting the cost of the treatment so please help Jocelyn and her family reduce their financial burdens so she can focus on her healing. God Bless.
