Hello, My name is Jo Porter. Two weeks ago, I was having a normal day, on my way to work, when I experienced a medical emergency in a local convenience store, nearly fainting. My husband urged me to get checked out at the hospital. Thankfully, I agreed. I was rushed into emergency brain surgery upon entering the ER. After the surgery, and biopsy, I was informed that I was diagnosed with Craniopharyngioma. A term I wasn’t familiar with, but it’s a terminal brain tumor growing near my pituitary gland. A few days after the diagnosis, my husband, Rob Porter, had a medical emergency of his own. A blood clot in his femoral artery was discovered. Thankfully, surgery went quick and good. However, it left fifty staples down his leg, and a few weeks of downtime for recovery. I now have to have weekly radiation treatments. I’ve never been the type to ask for handouts from anybody. I take pride in being a self sufficient American citizen. However, this situation has us in a bad financial spot, it caught us off guard. With weekly radiation, I’m uncertain of my working ability and schedule. With Rob being down, it’s a double-whammy we weren’t expecting. These treatments aren’t cheap, averaging $500-$600 per treatment, after the insurance deductible. Any donation is greatly appreciated. If you’re not able to donate, please keep us in your prayers, as this situation is taking a toll on my family. Thank you, and God bless- Jo & Rob.
