Hello, my name is Jhan Carlos Brito and due to a most recent fire on October 20, 2015 me and my two brothers (Felix Hernandez and Akil Rance) along with approximately 7 other people were left homeless that night. My land lord neglected to listen and/or fix anything that was wrong with our apartment and now due to neglect, we have lost everything! The electrical fire started in my brother's (Felix) room and although we are heartbroken over everything we’ve lost, we are extremely grateful that no lives were lost in this horrific fire. Now the journey begins for us to rebuild our lives and find a new place we can all call home. The brick building apartment that we use to live in is now demolished leaving us temporarily displaced. Hopefully, with your help and support we’ll be able to find a new apartment that we can all call home before the holidays and winter season. Much love for all who took the time to read my story and God Bless those who decided to help! Thank you for your time and donations. Below is the news article listing the details and events of the Lodi Fire.Three-alarm Lodi fire displaces 10 peopleOctober 20, 2015, 7:08 AM Last updated: Tuesday, October 20, 2015, 3:34 PM By LINDA MOSS and TARIQ ZEHAWIStaff Writers | A 3-alarm fire in Lodi started around 3 a.m. in the house on the right, according to fire officials. It then spread to the house next door. No one was injured LODI — A three-alarm fire ripped through a pair of two-family houses in Lodi early Tuesday morning, originating in a brick home on River Street and spreading to a neighboring house, authorities said. About 10 people were displaced.Firefighters arrived to find flames coming out of the front and side of the second floor of a brick house at 61 River St around 4 a.m., said Chief Ron Cannici of the Lodi Fire Department. The fire spread to a neighboring two-story wood-frame home at 59 River St., he said. There was extensive damage to both two-family houses, but the residents escaped without injury, Cannici said. No firefighters were injured, either, he said. The police closed River and Myrtle streets because of the firefighting operation. Police officers were assisting with the road closures on Tuesday and helping residents who needed to go to their homes.Felix Hernandez, 30, who lives on the second floor of the brick building, said that the fire originated in his bedroom. He said he woke up to smoke and the sound of fire alarms going off, and that he tried unsuccessfully to put it out with a fire extinguisher before evacuating.“It was hectic,” Hernandez said, adding that he had been complaining to his landlord for months about problems with the building’s plumbing and electricity. The borough’s fire marshal, Paul Wanco, said the brick house was so badly damaged, with its stairwell destroyed, that he was not able to get upstairs to investigate the fire’s cause. That house was in the process of being demolished on Tuesday afternoon, Cannici said.Wanco said that he plans to officially characterize the fire’s cause as undetermined, but following interviews with residents he suspects it was due to a problem with electrical wiring. The brick house where the fire started is not owner-occupied, while the owner of the wood-frame house lives on its first floor, with tenants above, Wanco said. The displaced families found places to stay for the time being, Cannici said.Firefighters from Hackensack, Saddle Brook, Garfield, Rochelle Park, Maywood and Wallington responded to the fire.http://www.northjersey.com/news/three-alarm-lodi-fire-displaces-10-people-1.1436548
