For 22 years, my best friend, Jessica has been waiting for a new liver due to an autoimmune childhood disease that was failing her own. In order to receive a new one, extensive testing had to be continuously updated while on a waiting list.During this time, Jessica was in and out of the hospital as her other organs became affected. She has had gallstone surgery with stent placement numerous times while doubling over in pain, she has had pancreatitis, edema (swelling) throughout and on medications daily not just for her liver but for symptom control of the other problems arising. Finally, the day of Oct 25th, Jessica recieved the emotional call that she had a match for a new liver. She underwent surgery early the following morning and has been doing great!! Unfortunately, as with any transplant it is a waiting game to assure full recovery. Jessica is unable to go back to work for 6-8 weeks. With all the medical bills (dr visits, hospital, labs, sugery, ect) and her husband by her side needing to care for his wife while at home, financial hardships have struck them. They deserve to enjoy their new beginning without the stress of losing their home or becoming behind on their bills. Please consider donating.
