Hi, my name is Mary Kwiatkowski. My husband, Joseph and I are requesting your assistance to raise funds on behalf of our daughter Jennifer. Jennifer is a 32 year old wife and mother of 2 children. Sixteen years ago, Jennifer was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation, Syringomyelia, and a syrinx composed of CSF cysts in her cervical and thoracic spine. To give you some background of these medical terms, A Chiari malformation is a problem in which a part of the brain (the cerebellum) at the back of the skull bulges through a normal opening in the skull where it joins the spinal canal. This puts pressure on parts of the brain and spinal cord. With more pressure, the syrinx could get big enough to damage the spinal cord, compress and injure the nerve fibers that carry information to and from the brain to the body. Syringomyelia is a neurological disorder in which a fluid-filled cyst (syrinx) forms within the spinal cord. These are rare and debilitating conditions, which were relatively stable until recently. In addition to these conditions, Jennifer has many other health issues such as psoriatic arthritis, osteo arthritis, scoliosis, fibromyalgia, severe migraines which have caused stroke like symptoms, seizures and her vision to come and go, and more. Many of these symptoms stem from these disorders. She was told on May 31st she needed to have Chiari Decompression Surgery. Which is a risky, painful surgery with a long recovery. The following day, Jennifer and her family were involved in a motor vehicle accident, in which her car was totaled. Afterward, her symptoms got worse. Urgently, this surgery took place on June 21st, as it could not wait. Her MRIs showed there was blockage of the CSF flow and enlargement of the syrinx which is extremely dangerous, and it was putting pressure on the spinal cord. This put Jennifer at a high risk for permanent paralysis. The hope is that many of above symptoms and issues will dissipate after surgery. However, there is risk they may get worse over time. The outcome is hopeful, yet unknown. With your help, we are hoping to collect enough to help with out of pocket medical expenses, additional gas costs for all the doctor and therapy appointments, daycare, and income substitution for Jennifer’s husband, Adam, taking off work to care for Jennifer in her 6-12 month recovery. They also recently purchased a new log splitting business in January, and because Adam will be spending most of his time taking care of Jennifer and everything else, they will need to pay for someone to help with whatever they need. Jennifer and Adam will need help with donations or funds to purchase Ready-made/preprepared food, as Adam will have his hands full trying to take care of Jennifer and the kids when home and will need help with the cost of the up keep of the home. These are some of their basic necessities and there is likely many unforeseen costs to come. Our goal is to raise as much as 25k and we are asking for your assistance in helping her and her family. We appreciate your kindness and generosity in her deepest time of need!
