My sister Jenise Engel arrived in Oklahoma City 2 weeks ago for what she thought was going to be a mini- vacation, and a quick visit with her son.Unfortunately, her vacation ended in disaster. On October 18, around 7 am a fire broke out in her son's apartment complex. Eight families lost their homes and personal belongings in this fire. I am so thankful no one lost their life.Jenise and Jake heard a lot of noise and a child screaming they opened the door to see what was going on. When they opened the front door, the outside hallway was full of smoke and became engulfed in flames immediately. They quickly shut the door and realized as the apartment filled with smoke, that the only way out was for them to jump out of a second story window. Jenise was having a hard time breathing and choking because of all the smoke. So she quickly jumped out. Once she landed her foot had several broken bones and some seem beyond repair. My nephew Jake jumped after her and had to drag her away from the building to safety because of the flames and smoke. Her injury was too severe. She was then rushed to the hospital.Once she arrived at the hospital she was rushed into emergency surgery. The doctor stated she may need her foot amputated. The doctor was unable to sew her foot up because the bones would not stay together every time he tried to close the wound. So she had a bunch of rods holding the bones in place and an open wound. We were so worried she was going to develop an infection. Thankfully, after a few days they were able to finally close the wound but she still has all the rods to stabilize the wound. So far the amputation has not happened and we are hopeful she can keep her foot but we are still unsure about all of that. The real problem is she does not live here and because she has an HMO, her insurance is not willing to cover anything unless she is in Florida. At this time she needs to go to a nursing facility for her skin to heel to see if they will be able to fix the foot, or if they will have to amputate it. The insurance will not cover a medical transport or the nursing facility. We are trying to raise ten thousand dollars to cover these expenses.Any small donation will help it all adds up. I am begging that you share this story with everyone you know. If we could get a thousand people who would be willing to donate only 10 dollars then we could reach our goal. We could then get my sister the medical attention she so desperately needs. Jenise could also be transported back to Florida so her insurance will cover her other surgeries that she is going to need. Please help if you can, even if you can only give a dollar every little bit helps!!! If you can't afford to give then please let everyone you know read this and ask for help. Any amount is greatly appreciated.Have a blessed day and Thank you,Molly MacKillican
