Laura Richardson and myself, Danielle Webber, would like to petition for your generosity on behalf of our sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Doug Jeffcoat. While there are so many things and people that beg for our attention and financial support these days, I would like to share with you a bit of their story for your consideration. 2 months after Elizabeth and Doug got married, 16.5 years ago, Doug was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. After 6 months of chemotherapy and 6 brutal months of radiation treatments, he beat all the odds and survived. But that was just the beginning of what would be his lifelong fight for healing. None of the doctors knew what to expect in the future regarding his health, healing, or quality of life, because people with his diagnosis don’t typically survive. Over the past 16 years, Doug has faithfully provided for Elizabeth and his two stepdaughters. And each year they face new health challenges and obstacles that max them out on insurance deductibles and limits. In all these years, my sister and her husband have never asked for anything from other people aside from prayers and hospital visits. To my knowledge, there has never been a group effort for financial support for this family. When funds run low, Elizabeth makes great sacrifices in the home in order to get a full time job and work as long as she needs to in order to make ends meet for their family, all while serving others. She brings food to the needy and visits the sick, attends important events, supports church work faithfully, and makes time for people who need her wisdom, while taking care of her family and husband. This year, Elizabeth was expected to travel to Guatemala and South America for mission work in some small villages. The Jeffcoat family has never ceased to pour themselves out for the service of others, even amidst their own heartbreaking, life-altering challenges. This year, like all the others, Doug is maxing out his health benefits. He has spent 16 days in the hospital so far this year struggling with ongoing health issues for which there are still no answers. No answers as to 'why,' 'what to expect next' or how to help him. I cannot even begin to describe to you in this short message how discouraged this family is and how much their quality of life is continually being altered, placing harsh limits on their opportunities. So now to the asking part. I know there are a lot of people out there suffering in so many ways. And there are endless ways we can pour out to each other and lift each other up. This is just one opportunity that is close to our hearts, as we watch the years pass by and the suffering of this family continue without an end. There are so many of us that this family has served, and it's long overdue that we give a portion back to them, to lift their spirits, show our love and compassion, and relieve some of the financial strain for them this year. Doug is not asking. Elizabeth is not asking. They have asked for nothing but prayers, for which we also plead on their behalf. Funds will go directly into a savings account set aside by Laura Richardson and will be dispersed directly from there to the family. Please feel free to leave a note of encouragement for Liz and Doug on this page, or reach out to us for direct contact info to send cards or personal gifts or financial support. We started with a goal of $5,000, however, their insurance cap each year is $12,000. Doug is expected to be released from the hospital this evening, with no answers or a game plan as to how to proceed to address his current condition.
