My name is Cassandra and I am Jared’s Aunt. I am fundraising to help with funds for cancer and the funds needed to stay in Portland without his mom working. Jared was really sick in 2018, where we weren’t sure what was going on for weeks, he was eventually flown to Portland to Doernbeckers Pediatric Hospital. It took them at least another week to figure out he had leukemia and needed a blood transfusion. I remember in that moment before they figured out his diagnosis I might be losing this kid. His life was literally slipping away, he cried while I held him and him telling me he was scared to die. Those weeks and months become a blur to some of us, while they are still vivid memories for Jared and his mom. He had to do chemo for 2 years after his diagnosis. He survived a fire that destroyed his town and homes in the Mobil park they live in, through COVID and more. He made it standing stronger than ever! He has been doing awesome in Phoenix High School. He also started wrestling and Football. His teammates, coaches, teachers, family and friends have been beyond proud of this kid and his positive attitude. Literally beat all odds thrown his way. He has been mentally and physically stronger than ever. Fast forward to 2024, 5 years, one month and a day after his initially diagnosis. The week before he had been complaining of back pain, they thought it was because of the sports, he had hit his tail bone the week before. So naturally thought no big deal. Till Jared was increasingly in more pain. He told his mom the pain was like before and they needed to go to the ED. In this visit thankfully the ED doctor listened, they did a MRI and it lite up like a Christmas tree, showing lesions all over the pelvis. They knew something was wrong. They were eventually checked into PEDS at Rogue Regional where they started more tests Unfortunately for the second time they could not figure it out. They had the results from the MRI and his symptoms with a long going low temp, they knew something was seriously wrong again. They decided to fly him again up to Portland for more testing. After some very grueling bone and biopsy tests, they discovered he had relapsed with Leukemia. They cannot use the chemo from before because it has caused necrosis and he could need hip replacements very soon. While the trial treatment has been approved for him to use while they figure out the rest of the treatment, it will be a very long road for him. They will be in Portland for awhile, mom has to stay with him for his treatment and these costs add up quickly. Thank you for every donation, thought about them, love, positivity, prayers shown in this hard time. We truly are beyond happy that they have so many awesome people standing behind this family. Thank you! Thank you!
