Hi, my name is Sharon and I'm fundraising to help my sister. Janet was diagnosed with Stage 1 Breast Cancer in January. She found the lump herself in December right before Christmas. She was diagnosed with invasive lobular carcinoma, HR positive, HERS negative. It is a grade 3, so is very aggressive and has a higher chance of reoccurring. Thankfully it had not yet spread to her lymph nodes. She had two lumpectomy surgeries, one in February and another in March, as they did not get all the margins during the 1st surgery. A panel of experts decided that she will need to have the long chemotherapy due to her young age of 45. She will have 16 chemo treatments spread over 20 weeks. The first 4 treatments are bi-weekly, then the last 12 treatments are weekly. She just had her third chemo treatment and is trying to remain positive. She recently shaved her head as her hair was falling out, which sadly is a part of this journey. She has a long road of recovery ahead of her. After the chemo treatments are complete, she will then need to wait a few weeks and will need radiation treatments. The radiation is daily, 5 days a week for 4 to 5 weeks in Oshawa. She will then need hormone therapy. Her oncologist is hopeful she will be able to return to work in early December. Her unemployment will run out very soon and she does not have sick benefits through her work. It has been a stressful time for her and I am hopeful that this LFEBridge will help her be able to maintain her monthly bills and also help with the extra needed for gas traveling back and forth for the treatments and other related expenses. Janet & Dave are the last people who would ask anyone for anything but are the first to help others in need. I don't want Janet struggling financially when she is trying so hard to focus on healing. During all the testing for the breast cancer the doctors also discovered nodules of concern on her thyroid. She has gone for 2 biopsies on them so far and they found atypical cells..she is waiting now to have a 3rd biopsy on it on July 12th. We are hoping this biopsy will rule out thyroid cancer. Janet will be very grateful for any donation she receives. Thank you in advance to anyone who is able to help in any way. Your positive thoughts and healing prayers are appreciated so much. Thank you everyone for taking the time to read this and for your support. Please do regular breast self exams and if you feel anything unusual push your doctor for a mammogram. You must advocate for your own health. Thank you everyone!
