Many of you know that my sister Jami has worked so hard as a single mom for all these years. With the kids now grown, this year she finally was able to buy a "new to her" camp trailer. She searched and searched and finally found the perfect fixer-upper. She spent so many hours fixing it up and making it so stinkin' cute! It was her "hippie trailer," and was just perfect for her! She had plans to paint the outside before next summer, and to use this trailer for many, many years. This summer she had it for the Hollibaugh Family Reunion, and then again for a "girls & kids" camping trip with her friend Jennifer. Sadly, on Wednesday, July 26 -- when Jami, Jennifer, and Jen's four kids were on their way home -- there was a freak accident on Phantom Hill. They were going slow (only about 45 in the 65 zone), but suddenly the trailer started to fishtail for no apparent reason and Jami was unable to get it back under control. The Suburban rolled twice, and the trailer another half-time, ending up upside down. Those ladies had angels traveling with them, because even though both the rig and trailer were totaled, none of the six people were hurt beyond some bumps and bruises, thank God! The reason I'm putting this out there is because being in a wreck is expensive. Her trailer was not insured since it was so old, and her Suburban only had liability insurance. Therefore, everything is a total loss and all of the towing and cleanup bills are on Jami -- a total of $2200. Her Suburban was towed that night, and was totaled out. The next day, a work crew came out and helped Jami and Jen access and be able to rescue most of the items that were in the trailer (phew!) before the crew tore it apart the rest of the way and hauled it off. Jami is not allowed to access her Suburban to get anything from it until she pays at least $750 of the $2200. As I mentioned, she already sunk every spare cent she had into buying and fixing up the trailer, and going camping. She was coming home knowing she was going to be strapped for a bit, but it was worth it. Now, though, with this unexpected wreck and its related unanticipated bills, she just doesn't have the money. We have been asked by a few people if there was going to be a Go-Fund-Me set up for Jami, so we decided to do it. If you have it in your heart and pocketbook to be able to help, even just a little bit, it will be most appreciated! Thank you to everyone for your well-wishes and prayers!
