Hi my name is Jen. I have the best grandson in the world- his name is Jackson. Jackson is a beautiful 6 year old boy and he is one of the smartest kids you would ever meet! He loves to draw, create monsters and traps. He tells the best, most imaginative stories and is a nature boy who loves looking for bugs and learning all about them. While in Las Vegas visiting his father, Jackson was severely injured in a motor vehicle accident. While stopped at a red light, their vehicle was hit from behind (with no attempts to stop) at 65mph. Jackson was in the backseat. It is believed the other driver was drunk, however that has not yet been confirmed. Jackson immediately lost consciousness. He is currently hospitalized in the pediatric ICU in critical condition. He has bilateral comminuted fractures in his femurs. The impact had such force that his lungs slammed against his chest wall causing his ribs to break and internal bleeding as well as major lung contusions. He is currently on a ventilator with a collapsed lung, chest tube, feeding tube and catheter. He has already had one surgery to put plates and screws in his thighs. He also has numerous facial fractures. One of which is going to require surgery to repair his cheek bone as it's completely caved in. He has extensive contusions/bruising to his entire body. Jackson had a blood transfusion this morning and was put on diuretics for fluid in his lungs. My daughter Alayna and Jeremiah (Jackson's mother and step-father) immediately flew from Atlanta to Las Vegas to be with Jackson. He has a long, painful road ahead to recovery. However, seeing as this just happened on Wednesday June 28th, 2024... we still don't know what extent all his injuries and treatments will be going on for. I'm sure as you all know, expenses add up very quickly. Alayna and Jeremiah both left work for an undetermined amount of time. They still have their home bills and responsibilities as well as all the medical and travel expenses incurred thus far and actively still accumulating. I am asking for prayers and anything you can do to help them during this very difficult time. No amount is too small as it all adds up. These things are obviously never planned and happened at a time where both Alayna and Jeremiah just recently started new jobs. So please, if you are able to help in anyway, please consider helping my grandson Jackson. He will be turning 7 at the end of this month and he deserves every chance at life! UPDATE!!! 7/5/23Jackson is slowly improving day by day. He is finally off the ventilator, but still has a way to go. He has already had 2 major surgeries; one to repair the damage to both legs and the other to repair the cheekbone under his right eye. Sometime in the next year or so, they are going to have to go back into surgery to remove the plates and screws from his femurs and face. He is still in the hospital and expected to be for a while longer. His mom and step dad are also still with him in Nevada while their bills gradually accumulate here in Atlanta.
