Hi, my name is Shamarli, and I am fundraising for the love of my life, Jacqueline Nguyen, to allow her the opportunity to receive Stem Cell Treatment to replace the damaged cells that were affected by Lupus. Jackie's mom had Lupus Fibrosis and passed 2 years ago from a weakened immune system, which succame to covid-19, and Pneumonia in the hospital during the middle of the Covid lockdown. We are doing this fundraiser to ensure the same thing does not happen to her. Jackie was diagnosed with SLE Lupus Nephritis in 2009 when she was 11 years old at the start of middle school when she experienced butterfly rashes appearing on her face, with symptoms of extreme fatigue, joint pain, and chest pain. Jackie is 25 years old now and has experienced 3 major flare-ups since then progressively getting worse each time. Jackie's most recent flare-up took place on June 21st. Essentially, on June 21st, Jackie was informed that her kidneys were functioning at 3% and had to be rushed into the ER. Once we reached the ER, we found out that Jackie was also at risk for a stroke and heart attack, due to her hypertension as a result of her kidneys failing. Jackie had to get an emergency catheter placed into her chest to receive her Dialysis treatment. Jackie is currently required to attend Dialysis treatment 3 times a week, to have the toxins removed from her body since her kidneys are barely functioning presently. Jackie is also required to take 7 different prescription drugs, 2 of which remove her ability to drive making her extremely dizzy and lightheaded. Jackie is currently classified as having Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, Lupus Nephritis, End Stage Renal Disease on Dialysis, along with other health complications such as; hypertension, rapid hair loss, vertigo, rheumatoid arthritis, Anemia, Focal Glomerular Sclerosis, and Increased Intracranial Pressure. Given the circumstances, I have taken on the role of Jackie's live-in caregiver to assist in monitoring her recovery, administering her medicine, transporting her to and from all of her Dialysis treatments, showering, and any other activities of daily living that she is unable to do on her own. Jackie's Dialysis case worker informed her that if Jackie is to attempt the Kidney transplant she will most likely be on the national kidney donor list for around 9 - 10 years. That said, Jackie also found out from her doctor that given the state of her current condition, she does not have the luxury of waiting that long. That is why we are proceeding forward with the stem cell treatment to give Jackie a fighting chance in curing her Lupus once and for all. Thank you for all your help and support as every donation is appreciated and brings us one step closer to getting the treatment she desperately needs to prolong her life.
