Dear Brothers, We’re reaching out to provide an update on the status of the Iota Eta Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity at WCSU. Over the last several years, the chapter has navigated many challenges. Specifically, low recruitment and financial difficulties due to COVID-19. The chapter consists of eight highly motivated brothers who view these challenges as opportunities, not obstacles. We are calling on our alumni to help us reestablish Iota Eta as the preeminent Greek organization at WCSU! Our dues are nearly twice the amount of the other fraternity on campus: $375 for actives and $325 for pledges. Potential brothers have declined bids because of the dues. The 2024 Grand Chapter approved a motion to increase dues and initiation fees. These increases compound our fiscal challenges by changing the fee structure, requiring $600 per new brother within 30 days of initiation. The previous model spread lesser expenses over 18 months. As you know, this is the 35th anniversary of our chapter’s founding, a milestone worthy of celebration. We are organizing this celebration on the weekend of the fall initiation. We look forward to celebrating with you and our new pledge class. We are asking for financial contributions from our Alumni to help the chapter stabilize and grow. These funds will go toward - Meeting our outstanding balance with Sigma Chi HQ $930. Recruitment efforts: Events, t-shirts, & printed and digital marketing materials $1,500. - New Brother Expenses: Pledge fee $100; Initiation Fee: $300; Membership Fee: $200 (Total: $600) per initiate. This means a pledge class of 10 would cost $6,000. - 35-year Celebration: $2,500 to secure venue, individual ticket pricing TBD. With nearly 400 alumni, we hope to meet or exceed this goal with as many contributions as possible. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or to arrange payment through a different channel. In Hoc Signo Vinces, The Iota Eta Chapter
