Greetings, My name is Nose Poliard, a professional Social Worker, and a Christian Servant Leader. Today, upon Altema Family's consent, I’m partnering with two charitable organizations (501c3): Marenn Parenn Pou Haiti and Christian Ability Network to solicit your kindness and financial support for Leyla (11-year-old) and the Altema Family. Why? Read more. Leyla Altema has been hospitalized since July 17th, 2024, at PluriMedic in Port-au-Prince Haiti. Leyla is suffering from and being diagnosed with Sickle Cell Anemia, Cholecystitis, severe swelling of the gallbladder, and pulmonary infection disease that left her on Oxygen for the past 7 days and in need of blood transfusion. All this dramatic suffering of this little girl happens in the context of a poor country, classified as being at war, in which nothing barely works except gang activities. As such, the pediatrician recognizes the case is challenging but notices significant changes with some medications. Mr. Jorel Altema is Leyla’s father. He is 52 years old, with a meager pay from PT employment, and has recently lost his wife (nurse) due to liver cancer. The widower, since June 2024, has been struggling to make ends meet for his three children (13, 11 and 9). Leyla is the 2nd child being hospitalized. The oldest son underwent appendicitis surgery in January 2024. They continue to face challenges with unpaid medical bills. Jorel is a survivor of the 2010 Haiti Earthquake which left him with disabilities after 10 leg surgeries. He continues to live with metal and screws in both legs. The family is still grieving and is in the process of transitioning to a temporary rental apartment. Their only hope is in the Lord Jesus Christ who is the great provider, shepherd, and healer. They also rely on Christ to touch the heart of brothers and sisters like you to assist and support them in any way possible. On July 23, 2024, I talked to the pediatrician and the interdisciplinary team working on this case. I have also been engaged in conversation with other collaborators in M. Altema’s direct church environment and volunteering services, where he has been serving as a Sunday school teacher for a decade and ministering to the Boys Scout/brigade movement at EBB (Bolosse). It is confirmed that the family is vulnerable and needs urgent support. Please, help us in changing the course of life of the Altema family. Join us in support to pay for medical bills, special dietary food costs, transportation, Oxygen cost, and other urgent needs for Leyla and her family. We will continue to voluntarily assist M. Altima in developing a sustainable plan so he can take care of his family. This is a one-time opportunity to continue making a real impact in the lives of vulnerable families. Thank you for your compassion and support!
