If you ever saw her then you've seen beauty inside and out, resilance, and a fighter. If you've ever listened to her... then you've heard conviction, faith and maturity beyond her years. If you've ever loved her, then you've loved her compassion, her selflessness and her heart of gold. If you've truly known her, then you were blessed to know God's image of himself reflected in another human being!About Valerie's Fight Against Cancer...Valerie's story is quite unique in that it is not often that one person is able to defy the odds so many times in such a short span of time. By telling her story, one can only hope to bring recognition to this wonderful miracle that she is and maybe even to bring doubt to the those who do not believe in a God. Shortly after her 21st birthday in 2009, Valerie was diagnosed with a cancer so vile and prominent in her bones that she was given a 3% chance to live. In addition to her extremely low likelihood of living past a few months, she was guaranteed she would never walk again and advised that the doctors would need to amputate her leg. Valerie refused to believe in the prognosis that so many doctors gave her and set forth on a path to recovery. One would like to hope that this would be the end of the story and to hear that Valerie lived a long and healthy life; disheartening as it were, that was not the case and Valerie's struggle had just begun. Against all odds, Valerie gained the use of her leg and was able to walk without the use of any devices; even more surprising was the fact that Valerie entered into remission!! Valerie and her family rejoiced in this and praised God daily for the blessings he had given them. Sadly, Valerie relapsed again and went back into the hospital almost immediately where she again stayed for several months. The doctors had told her if the cancer did come back after her remission, it would certainly kill her. Nonetheless, Valerie and the rest of the Williams family remained steadfast in their daily praise of God. Again, Valerie miraculously went into remission- the doctors were so stunned, even they began calling her a miracle and medical mystery! The remission and sudden trips back to the ICU became a pattern for Valerie and she became a symbol of hope, strength, and love for all who came to know her. She has remained a young heroine in the minds of everyone surrounding her during her courageous battles against cancer for the last 6 years which came to an end on Wednesday, October 21, 2015The cancer has taken a great emotional, physical, and financial toll on Valerie and the rest of the Williams family and through it all, their faith in Christ has not faltered (Thank you Becca Woodard for this Great Overview). The family would like to provide Valerie with the type of homegoing service that this Angel deserves. Any support you are able to provide would be greatly appreciated. The Services are set for Thursday, October 29th (The Viewing)Funeral & Burial will be Friday, October 30th, 12noonGarden Oaks Funeral Home Chapel #213430 Bellaire BlvdHouston, TX 77083
