My most precious & dear friend, Hena Konev, was recently diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. It is beyond healing with surgery so she has begun chemotherapy, which has to be done in Anchorage. I am asking for funds to help offset the cost of trips to Anchorage, elective natural & alternative medical providers & treatments not covered by insurance, including costly vitamin C infusions, a specialized organic diet, & to help pay for her daughter to take lots of classes & participate in activities this fall & winter. We want her darling 4-year-old occupied with fun & learning & out of the house as much as possible during this next year of intensive chemo treatments her mom will be going through. Many of you know Hena as the "Salsa Lady" as she owns Simply Fresh Salsa and has been selling her fantastically, delicious salsa at markets in Homer for years. Hena is a loyal friend and family woman. She has been with her husband, Frank, for almost 16 years. She has a stepson, Jake, who is 22, and her daughter, Julianna, who is 4 years old. Hena is a lovely, generous woman and a friend to all. We know her to be most caring and considerate. She is always there to lend a helping hand and a sympathetic ear. She has been there for many of us, through thick and thin. She is extremely reliable. Her virtues are manyfold - all enwrapped in this fun, social, talented, curious, adventurous, hard-working, perfectly delightful person we know as our Hena. Please keep Hena and her family in your thoughts and prayers and if you can donate a little or a lot to help ease her stress and burden during this difficult time, I would really appreciate it.
