The ScienceLogic community of employees, customers, and friends are coming together to support one of our own. While many of us have gotten to know our dear colleague, Brien Wilson, for his kindness, impeccable work ethic, and customer dedication, not many of us have known that he has been bravely battling cancer over the past 6 years (off and on) privately and with unparalleled resilience. In 2017, Brien was about to turn only 50 years old when he was initially diagnosed. Since then, he has had to overcome cancer several times. We are all deeply saddened to learn that his health has taken a turn and now requires 24/7 skilled nursing services in conjunction with hospice care. To show our appreciation for how Brien has positively touched our lives professionally and personally, as a community, we would like to rally around his family during this time. Suffice to say, Brien is not just a phenomenal colleague; he is a beloved husband and partner to his wife, Yasmine, for over 20 years. She refers to him as her Wilson Warrior. She relentlessly champions him emotionally and physically on ways to beat cancer. She never ever gives up. Brien is also a devoted father to their beautiful 11-year-old daughter, Elisaa. They chose to uniquely spell her name with 2 A's because they wanted her to always be reminded of how Absolutely Amazing she is!Brien adores Elisaa and Elisaa adores Brien! It’s Brien and Yasmine’s top priority to “circle the wagon” around her, too. Elisaa never gives up either and always holds the belief that he will beat it again. From the the young age of 5, she has known her dad as someone who has had to overcome cancer. It’s important to us that she feels safe, loved, and cared for. What brings Elisaa the most happiness and comfort throughout these challenging times has unquestionably been her connection with family and dear friends. She also has a deep connection with animals. She loves hugging, training, and caring for her micro-golden doodle puppy named Goldie. Most recently, she has discovered a profound love for horses this summer as she enjoys how fun, therapeutic, and comforting they are. Brien, however, is sometimes limited with activities that he can enjoy with her, so they look for ways too adjust. There has been lots of snuggling going on while watching movie marathons, or binge watching HGTV fixer upper shows, or they laugh together watching a comedy. Elisaa often will immerse herself in arts & crafts, brain games, or playing Minecraft by his side. At night, without fail, Brien reads to Elisaa. (With only a few exceptions has he missed) This is no surprise that he too shows up with such commitment and perseverance in his most important role as a father. As you can imagine though, it’s taken a toll on them physically, emotionally, and financially. We would like to help bring smiles and joy to their hearts by offering a donation, a sentiment, or kind words of comfort. We are initiating this fundraiser to provide tangible assistance to the family, offer some peace of mind, ensuring they have the necessary resources to focus on spending quality time together and healing through this experience. With our generous contributions, we hope to help cover Brien’s extra medical and dietary needs, travel costs as they now are in different states from one another and getting 24/7 care, (which runs about $10,000 per month), and provide additional financial support as a bridge for the family's immediate needs, and for the journey ahead.Our heart goes out to his beautiful daughter, Elisaa, and what she may need now, and in the future.
