Hello my name is Cynthia, On behalf of myself and the Acorn Early Learning Centre team, we are organizing a fundraiser for the beautiful Macri family. For those that know them you would know how strong this family is, Marija a mother of 3 beautiful boys & wife was diagnosed this year with an aggressive form of breast cancer. She had begun her journey of multiple rounds of chemo, however unfortunately rather than the lump shrinking it grew larger. Marija was immediately booked in for surgery to remove the lump to help relieve the physical pain she was experiencing due to the lump increasing in size. The results from the cancer removal came in on Thursday 13th of July, unfortunately, the cancer has progressed from stage 1 to stage 3 cancer & the cancer had already spread to her lymph nodes. Marija is now due for a body scan next week to see if the cancer has spread any further within her body. As you can imagine receiving this news has been devastating for her and her family however, they have continued to remain hopeful. In addition to this stressful cancer experience the Macri family have been finding strength and faith in their son Marc, who is 10yrs old and has cerebral palsy. Marc was initially in ICU for the last couple of weeks where the family was informed that nothing more could be done to assist him. Marc is now spending his last days in palliative care surrounded by family and loved ones. Marc has gone through so much over the last couple of years, constant hospital admissions & surgeries. It has been a very tough time for the little man as he has always had to fight to stay well and his family has always found the strength to walk with Marc despite all of his adversities. My friend Marija has always given back to the community in many ways not only through the generosity of her cake business Framboise Cakes but also her annual contributions towards spreading awareness of cerebral palsy and raising funds for STEPtember. In case you are unaware of this fund, STEPtember is a community of over 124,000 Australians STEPping to help change the lives of people with cerebral palsy. Taking on this challenge and raising funds supports life-changing research, treatment, services and technologies to help people with cerebral palsy to live their best life. As you can imagine Marija had no hesitation in participating in this for her son Marc and for the community. She went way above and beyond in raising funds, doing over 25K runs & having big goals of achieving 70K runs which she did accomplish. Marc had the beautiful privilege of being the face of STEPtember and you may have seen him and his family on the Channel 7 Sunrise show talking about their story and sharing what STEPtember was all about. Words cannot express how truly heartbreaking this whole situation is, no family should ever have to go through this and it is times like this that support is needed the most. This is why I would like to kindly ask for friends, family and the community to please find it within their hearts to help to raise funds for this beautiful family. They certainly need us to support them during this very difficult time. Donating will give the Macri family some much-needed financial reprieve. It would help to lift the burden of financial worries and pressure and allow a husband and father the time to solely focus on the well-being and healing of his whole family. Your donation certainly does not have to be a large sum as any amount will count towards making a difference in the Macri family’s lives. I ask if you could please continue to pray for the Macri family as we ask the Lord to give them comfort, to heal and to bring them peace during this difficult time. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
