Hi, my name is Natalie Knights (Scarpa) and I’m the daughter of Rich Scarpa. On July 24, 2024 our family was given the news that my dad has Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS/preleukemia) which is a rare form of blood cancer. He will be starting treatment on August 14, 2024 which is 7 days on and 28 days off and will go on for 6 months, depending on how he responds to the treatment. The treatment isn’t a cure, but a hope that we can slow and/or prevent progression to leukemia (AML). My dad is my hero and one of the most generous and giving people I’ve ever met. Not just to his own family, but to all those around him. There aren’t enough words to describe the amazing, strong, loyal and loving person he is. He isn’t one to ever ask for help, but I hope by creating this it will help lessen the financial burden this will have on him and our family and so he can put all his focus in to receiving treatment and resting. We don’t know what the future holds and are taking it one day at a time, but the least I can do after all he’s done for me, is create this for him and hope that I can help lessen some of the stress that comes with this diagnosis by relieving the financial burden that he will ensue. I know this is a rough time for everyone and you may not be able to financially donate. So if you’re not able to donate, we appreciate you sharing this, and keeping him in your prayers and hope for the best outcome. Thank you for your time and wish you all the best. Rich, Edie, Randy, Natalie, John, Dulce, and his 3 (soon to be 4) amazing grandchildren.
