Hello, meet Nick and Yana – a young couple hit by a car as they were riding their scooter to work on Monday, June 19th on Route 1. Nick and Yana went airborne on impact. Nick sustained a shattered clavicle that needs surgery asap. Yana was airlifted to Christiana hospital, sustaining a fractured skull in two places. She had several stitches to her face – and it’s unclear if she’ll need surgery. Unable to work, they will have many doctor visits, surgery, travel to and from appointments, and much recovery time. Nick is a Rehoboth Beach local – and you may recognize him from skating at Epworth, playing volleyball in Dewey, or playing soccer / lacrosse with him in high school.
