Message by: Andrew, Avery and Zach Grossart, with the help/guidance of Uncle Dean Favoni Hello Family and Friends and all of you who are reading this via social media. Please understand how challenging and emotional it is to not only write this letter but how humbling it is to ask for your help. Our Mother, Linda Grossart, received some life-changing news this past spring. She was diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer. Linda is a woman who goes by many names. She is a wife, a mother, a new grandmother, an aunt, a cousin, a friend, a community member, a co-owner of Howpark Farms, a gardener, a volunteer, a host, a past first aid and CPR instructor, a former lifeguard and a swimming instructor and trainer. Now it is our turn to be something for Linda…a donor and a lifesaver. We are so thankful for her doctors and nurses at Cancer Care Manitoba. They are a caring, compassionate, and dedicated group of people. However, the limited treatment options and the repercussions (life expectancy, life with a colostomy bag) are not what Linda and our family desire. We believe that the best course of action for a longer, more fulfilling and sustaining life lies in treatments that are not offered, nor covered by the Manitoba government. Linda has begun consultations with a clinic in the USA and is encouraged by the initial conversations and is looking forward to beginning treatment. However, this option comes at a financial cost. The costs of travel, accommodations, food, and fees will accrue very quickly. So, your first question might be: How can we help? Great question. We are looking to raise $150 000 in the next few months so that Linda and our family can focus on healing and not finances. We realize that this is a significant amount, but we are hoping that all of your donations will help us realize this goal in the next couple of months. All donations are welcomed, appreciated, and received with gratitude and love. Apart from your donation we are asking that you forward this appeal to any and all of your contacts in hopes that they too will support. You never know who has been touched by cancer and is ready to contribute and see someone live through it and beyond any expectations. Together we can all sow the seeds of life for this farmer. Thank you so very much.
