Things have shifted quickly during this posting. This can be anyone, your mother, your sister... but this is my Aunt Betty. This photo was taken 2 months ago when she still had some strength. She went into the hospital with some stomach pain. Her first night there getting out of bed to use the bathroom she fell, hitting her head and breaking her upper right leg. In that same day she was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. It's throughout her whole body pretty much. The hospital got her through rehab on her leg to get her walking and to get her out of the there as fast as they could. See she doesn't have insurance, she doesn't have savings. So to the hospital it seems as though she was not worth treating. We all know if you don't have the money you aren't getting the care you need. I'm finding Florida to be the worst state when it comes to patient care, medicaid and just services assisting for survival. I think she's worth treating. She was sent home to her apartment. Her hospice care coming every other week. Please read that again. Every other week. Her young daughter was overwhelmed caring for her, anyone would be. Trying to get her to sit up, to eat, to bathe and use the bathroom. When your mom is not feeling well and just wants to be left alone to just sleep. How do you cope, it's not only physically exhausting it's mentally exhausting for both of them. She needed to be cleaned, fed, given meds. There are professionals for that and they weren't there. She didn't have time left. Did it have to be so so awful? This is the only way I can help by reaching out and asking. I can't change the hospital, hospice or Florida's Medicaid system We know she never got the right treatment but we can help her cremation and services, just something toward it so she could have some peace of mind during these last few hours knowing her services will be covered. She's never had it easy, never, her entire life and not now in death. Please help. Sadly now we are trying to raise money for her cremation and services anything you can helps, it really really does. Even if it's just $20, $25 or $50 it helps. Thank you Aunt Betty passed away in the early morning hours on August 6th.
