Family and Friends,Please consider helping this amazing, loving, couple who have experienced an unexpected whirlwind of events over the past few weeks. For those of you that know Ryan and Ashley you know they do not want to ask for help as they are the ones who are usually helping others. Due to the unforeseen events that I will attempt to describe below, both of them have been out of work and will continue to be out of work for some time while recovering. Here is my attempt at describing their story. A few weeks ago Ryan began experiencing chest discomfort. As a result he was seen and admitted to the hospital for an exploratory heart catherization. They were able to stent his arteries and he is well on the way to being healthy again……meanwhile… last week Ryan was awakened in the middle of the night to Ashley having a seizure (she had never experienced a seizure before). EMS was called and Ashley was transported to Tift Regional where it was found that she had a 6.5 cm (yes CM not MM) tumor on her brain. Ashley was transferred to Atrium Health Navicent (The Med for those of us that remember) for Neuro consultation and surgery. After a few days in Macon Ashley’s surgery was a success!! Thank God!! Ashley is currently recovering at Navicent (not without a few bumps, due to the location of the tumor, Ashley has some speech impairment from the swelling and fluid collection following surgery). Ashley and Ryan have insurance and will both be on FMLA throughout recovery. But as we are all aware, short term disability doesn’t begin until 15 days after. And even then 60% of your income does not cover 100% of your bills. I am forever grateful that my friends (family) are well on their way to recovery and I would rather see them focus on that recovery instead of stressing about income in the meantime. If you find it in your heart to help these amazing people please donate or share the word.
