Thursday, 7/27 at 630pm my brother sent me a picture of his new car. His dream car. Friday, 7/28 at 10am my sister called me saying my brother was just t-boned. A man ran a stop sign and hit him directly in the driver's door his first time driving his car going almost 60 MPH. His leg is shattered. But he is alive. My tough-as-nails brother knew he had to get out of that car if he wanted to live. With his driver's door being pushed in an entire foot and his left leg being crushed, he held his leg in his hand and pulled himself out of the passenger side of his car. The EMT said if he would’ve been in the vehicle he traded for that car, he’d be dead. This act of pure selfishness potentially took away not only 6 years of the military (loss of pay) but this is a lifelong injury he is going to struggle with. On top of 3 surgeries, a lifelong injury, and a year of PT with only a little over a year and a half in the military, until he is eligible to retire, he just found out the guy who hit him has no insurance. So, after doing everything right. Not speeding. Having insurance. Working his tail off to have his dream car. He is left to pick up the pieces and the guy who hit him is already out of jail with no consequences. I am trying to raise money to ease the burden of this accident so he can focus on healing and hopefully getting back to serving our country for the time he has left.
