My name is Danielle and I moved to the coast of Colombia 6 years ago. I have spent my 6 six years here coming face to face with real poverty and real people. I have met happy people who have nothing and have been humbled by what a hard life really looks like. Yudimar is a friend of mine who has 4 children: Angeli, Lusnary, Angel and Rogelis, between the ages of 4 and 12. She is a single mother because she has been abandoned by all of their fathers. Although required by law to financially aid her, she has absolutely no financial help from anyone. Her family is unable to support her either. Yudimar works all week however she is unable to earn enough to feed her children. Her pay simply does not cover basic costs and her children go to school hungry. She goes to work without food herself. She has been told by the doctor her children get sick because they are malnourished. And there is nothing she can do about this. Yudimar dreams of opening a nail salon. She would like to find a way to earn extra money to escape the poverty cycle she is stuck in. I have seen her efforts, I have seen her sorrow and I understand the only difference between us is where we were born. I also see that all it takes to change her life and the lives of her children is to give them a small financial boost and help them organize an investment plan. I would like to raise 5,000 GBP to help Yudimar out of poverty. We will make a cost plan with her for her monthly costs and delegate some funds for the immediate survival of her and her children. The remainder will go to investing in her future and buying materials necessary for her to begin her passion and paint nails. With the small investment, Yudimar will be able to get work that enables her to earn enough money to survive.
