Hi, I am David and I am fundraising to help offset my out-of-pocket costs for a recent hospital stay. On Friday, June 23 I ate a Caesar salad with grilled chicken. Those who work with me know it’s my “go-to” lunch. On Saturday I started feeling ill, like violently ill. By Tuesday the 27th I was in the emergency room. I was septic and had lost a lot of kidney function plus was severely dehydrated. I am happy to say that 4 days later I rolled out of the hospital with 7 liters of IV fluid in my veins plus 3 days worth of continuous antibiotics along with other medical concoctions that I can’t spell. I’m a lot better, but still have a ways to go with follow-up appointments and a return to work date. I lost my primary job in February, along with insurance, and have been working part-time while searching for more stable full-time work. I was able to get insurance through the healthcare marketplace and that has helped. My hospital bill is just north of $60,000 and my out-of-pocket portion is $15,000. If you can help, any amount would be so greatly appreciated and will be used towards my out-of-pocket obligations. I have been cleared to go back to work on July 16, but it takes about two weeks for scheduling to catch up, but at least that hurdle has been cleared. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and, again, any help is so greatly appreciated.
