Hello, My name is George and I am fundraising to assist my daughter, Maya, in paying for her medical bills. Our one and only daughter, Maya, 32 years old, was diagnosed with Sarcoma Cancer on April 4 2024. News of tumor in hip/pelvic then it metastasized to her right shin bone and left scapula. This news crushed our hearts. Maya was suffering with leg and back pain for over a year. She was treating her sciatica with over the counter meds, therapeutic massages and chiropractic therapy. Until April 14th when the pain was unbearable and consumed her, she was rushed to the ER in Florida where she was informed that she had a tumor on her hip, leg and shoulder. Later it was confirmed that she had Sarcoma cancer which had begun to Metastasize. Sarcoma is a rare form of cancer that attacks the bones and surrounding tissues. It usually affects young children and adolescents. For an entire year doctors were treating her for sciatica, a known condition that she has had for several years. Sarcoma is random and there is no blood test that can identify the disease, it can only be detected by a cat scan or MRI. Maya, just started a new job and was in the process of completing her 90-day probationary period when she was diagnosed with cancer. As you could imagine this has posed all kinds of challenges for her and our family. She is now considered an “inactive employee” which translates to no medical coverage or minimal coverage which barely covers her medical expenses. Since this is a rare form of cancer the medical facility treating her condition is two hours from where she lives. Maya has had two rounds of chemotherapy where she is being transported back and forth to the hospital for chemo and rehab facilities to try to regain her strength, so she can be discharged as an outpatient to continue her treatment. We are turning to family, friends and anyone that is willing to assist our family with contributing to pay for her medical expenses for continued treatment, transport, and medication. Right now the hospitals are contemplating prolonging the third round of chemo due the uncertainty of how services will be paid. Unfortunately, Maya has a delayed reaction to the Chemotherapy where her blood count levels drop and she becomes at high risk for infection, which means she must be transported back to the hospital to monitor her blood levels and treatment. When this occurs it prevents her from continuing her physical therapy so she can become independent. We are asking for your support so Maya can focus on healing and not deal with the stress or burden of trying to figure out how her medical bills will be paid. Or stand in fear that she will be denied treatment. .
