Hi, I'm Jamie's friend and co-worker, and today I'm asking for you to please take a moment, read Jamie's story, and know that any help you can offer will provide a huge lift for her. Jamie Rustemeyer is a mom, a grandmother, a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a co-worker, a dear friend, and just an all-around good person that needs some financial relief. Jamie was diagnosed with uterine cancer in May 2024. She had a hysterectomy and started receiving chemotherapy treatments in August 2024, and there is no end in sight. Unfortunately, the type of cancer Jamie is diagnosed with is very rare and extremely aggressive, and her doctors are trying to find a treatment that will stop the spread and slow the growth. Both Jamie’s oncologist and specialists at the Cleveland Clinic have stated that Jamie is unlikely to ever be cancer-free. She initially underwent six rounds of chemo, only to be informed at the end of those six weeks that the cancer had reformed and the scans detected eight areas of concern. Her doctor then recommended a clinical trial, which lasted for 17 weeks. This aggressive treatment consisted of chemo via pills each day, a chemo IV treatment every week, and immunotherapy treatments every three weeks. At the end of May 2024, her doctors said that Jamie’s body was having a difficult time recovering from the severe side effects of this treatment, while scans showed that the cancer had continued to grow. She is currently undergoing a round involving a 3-4 day stay at the James Cancer Center, receiving chemo treatments for three consecutive days and requiring additional monitoring due to side effects of the medication. Her current treatment is repeated every three weeks with scans scheduled at the end of July to determine if this treatment is showing any positive progress. Even small growth is considered to be positive progress. Due to the constant grueling battle that her body is waging each day, Jamie is now unable to return to work at the lawfirm she’s been with for the past 15 years. Disability benefits and paid time off from work have run out, and she has been without an income since the beginning of June. Jamie has been approved for social security disability benefits, although the amount she will receive will be far less than what is needed to make ends meet. These benefits do not begin until September. I asked Jamie what it would take to ease the stress of this mounting financial burden. Jamie told me that, if she can pay off her car and other outstanding debt, living on the social security check will be close to within reach. Please consider helping out Jamie by contributing what you can and sharing this link. Sometimes you need to ask for the help of friends, acquaintances, and even folks you never met to make a difficult time a little more bearable. With all sincerity, thank you.
