On June 29, 2024 around 6:50pm, while driving home to Santa Cruz from her job in Los Gatos, Amy Hope (Brusca) Dover was in a near fatal car accident. She was hit head on by a vehicle and sustained multiple injuries including fracturing her T3 spine, a traumatic bowel injury and a laceration to her kidney. She is currently at Valley Medical Center in San Jose. It’s a trauma center and they are taking great care of her. We have no idea how long she will be there and when they will be able to transfer her to a local hospital in Santa Cruz. Here is an update from her mom, Karen, as of this morning. “I talked with the surgeon. They feel no surgery is necessary at this time for her back fractures. She will be in a huge back brace for at least 3 months. They are reevaluating her kidney later tonight. They had to open her up from breast bone to pubic bone for her bowel injury. She has multiple scraps and bruises. A 6inch cut on her arm that has about 20 stitches. After removing part of her bowels, she is in a lot of pain and under sedation.” We’re hoping this LFEBridge account helps address the upcoming medical bills as well as her and her husband Richard’s day to day bills. Richard will be taking unpaid family leave so anything you can give will help no matter how small. We love Hope and pray that her recovery goes smoothly. She has a long road ahead of her so please keep her (and Richard) in your thoughts and prayers.
