Hello, my name is Annette. I am a friend of the Jones-Arview family and I humbly request your help in raising funds to help cover expenses due to a medical emergency with Emery Arview. Emery Arview is the daughter of Kerry Jones and Elva (Toot) Arview. She just turned 16 and got her license earlier in July. She is a quiet soul that has amazing artistic abilities. Emery went in for a tonsillectomy on Tuesday morning in Herrin, IL. The surgery went great, however when they tried to wake her up her stats plummeted and they realized she couldn’t breathe. Doctors put her on bipap to help her breathe and transferred her to Carbondale ICU to try to figure out why. Over Tuesday night at Carbondale ICU her stats continued to plummet and she became very unstable. Wednesday morning they decided to intubate and fly her to Children's in STL. Weather prevented flying so they sent an ambulance to get her. At this time she started coughing up blood. They rushed her back to an OR to check the surgical site for bleeding and intubate her. In the OR they discovered the surgical site was fine and that the blood was coming from her lungs that were filled with blood. They suctioned out the blood but she became very unstable, they called the family to let them know to pray and that it was not looking good. They pulled doctors from all areas of the hospital to work on her to keep her alive until they could get her started on Echmo. They had to send a different ambulance to get her after this that was equipped to handle Echmo. While waiting for the procedure to start Echmo and waiting on the ambulance she continued to not be stable. They struggled for hours to get her stable enough for transport. She finally got to Children's around midnight Wednesday night. Thursday morning they added a feeding tube. Children's has been incredible but, at this time, her lungs are getting worse instead of better. Their main goal is to get her stable and make progress to wean her off of life support and get her down to only being on the ventilator. Emery's family needs all the help we can muster. Whatever you do whether it be praying or sending good vibes or helping with a momentary donation, her family needs it all. She is very unstable and the parents/siblings are staying in St. Louis to stay close at all times. Kerry is missing work and spending money on hotel accommodations, travel expenses and food. Kerry is a very independent woman/mother who would never ask for help so I am asking on her behalf. We are trusting God and her doctors with the big task of managing the medical side but we can jointly help with the financial side. Please donate no matter the size. If we all help a little it adds up to alot.
