Anyone who knows my sister knows that the only thing she has ever wanted in this world is to be a mom. She has 2 amazing stepchildren and they are her heart and her world. Most of you know her struggles with fertility, and how much heartbreak she has had to endure over the years. I honestly feel like God was saving her to be Case and Jocelyn's mommy. Since the minute she and Zach got together she fell in love with those babies. Their biological mother tragically passed a little over a year ago and the kids have since been with them full time. She strives every day to be the best mommy she can be. Case is 8 and he is Autistic, he has improved by leaps and bounds since being in their home full-time. Wendy works with him every day and makes sure that he gets all the help and occupational/speech therapy that he needs. This is a struggle since she isn't "legally" his parent. Jocelyn is 3 and she is Wendy's mini-me. She will tell anyone that asks that her mommy is her BEST FRIEND. They are attached at the hip. Wendy LIVES for these kids. It terrifies her that if anything ever were to happen to Zach that she would lose them because she isn't legally their mom. So they have spoken to an attorney that specializes in adoption and found out that the minimum cost to legally adopt both children will be $3200. Case's possibly being much more because of special circumstances with his custody. Wendy was just starting this process when she found out her position with her company was one of thousands that were being cut. So she is currently during her severance period, and looking for a new position. This has allowed her to take the summer off with the kids, unfortunately, this has put a damper on the adoption plans due to funds. So I decided to help her by making this fundraiser. I just don't want her to have to go any longer not being the mommy she deserves to be. The legality of adoption would remove so much of her daily stress.
