My name is Victoria Holmes and I was diagnosed with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease on November 6, 2017, but my symptoms started in late 2015. I’m a 35 year old wife and mother to 2 beautiful girls! I’ll give you a little history of ALS, 90% of cases are sporadic and don’t know why it’s happening. The other 10% is familial. They also have limb onset, which starts with your arms and legs and bulbar onset which starts with your speech and swallowing first. I have familial limb onset. I lost my dad Chris Avel in 2009 to this horrible disease. It’s hard on our family to have to go through this all over again. I have recently become bed ridden and use a communication device using my eyes since I have recently lost my ability to speak. We have recently had to hire someone to sit with me during the day while my husband is at work, and it has been rough on us as a family financially. Your donation would mean the world to me and my family with help paying for my caregiver, so that we wouldn’t have to stress on how we are going to make ends meet. Every dollar counts and would bless my family! Thank you so much and God bless you.
