Hello, If you know Emily and I, you are aware we are expecting our first baby. We are lucky enough to get pregnant after our first try with IUI thanks to Shady Grove Fertility. We found out as soon as possible that we were having a sweet little boy. It took us awhile to agree on a name but after many arguments we finally agreed on the most perfect name for him.. Finnegan Rae Naugle. He is truly the most amazing thing we’ve ever experienced and the absolute love of our life. We went to all of our OB appointments and everything appeared to be perfect.. Fast forward to our anatomy scan and we received news no parents wants to hear.. our sweet baby boy has a very serious heart defect. Our local OB suggested we travel to Philadelphia for a second opinion at CHOP. After a long 8 hour day we got to hear how we had a perfect baby boy besides his heart causing him major issues.. he has a single heart ventricle, Dextrocardia, Heterotaxy, Atrioventrimlas Canal Defect, and Pulmonara Atresia with collateral vessels. They basically told us that the collateral vessels that have formed could either give us enough blood and oxygen to our baby or it will overload him and send him into heart failure. They also can not give us an exact prognosis until he is actually here.. they did inform us they believe he will live at least his first few days or weeks without difficulty but without surgery they can’t promise a long life. The surgery they want to do he has to meet his 4th month of life before he can qualify…  With all of this being said, CHOP has requested we relocated our life when I hit 35 weeks of pregnancy.. packing up our everything we know and moving hours away in hopes he will put up his best fight. This is going to bring in travel expenses, housing expenses, and numerous medical bills. Although still in utero CHOP has requested seeing us every 4 weeks until we move down here and after they will want to complete echocardiograms and ultrasounds weekly..  With this Go fund me, we might also have the opportunity to travel to Bostons Children’s Hospital (the best children’s hospital) for another opinion regarding surgeries. CHOPS cardiologist was very upfront about Finns defects. Going as far as informing us they’ve only seen fewer than 100 cases. It’s our hope to get a better number from Boston and relocate there We have created this go fund me in replace of having a baby shower for our sweet baby.. it breaks my heart to know we don’t get to celebrate his life “properly”, but we would much rather be able to travel and provide him with the best chance of life we can.  Thank you all for reading, even if you are unable to donate we truly appreciate you reading our sweet babes story.  Update: Finnegan was born on 11/30/2024 at 10pm. He came out and appeared to be as healthy as a baby as he could with his heart disorder and heterotaxy. He spent 8 days in the hospital after birth but was deemed stable and sent home with his moms. On Sunday 12/10/2024 Finnegan went into respiratory distress and turned blue - his mama started CPR and cops were there within 2 minutes. By the time he was placed in the ambulance he was crying and was no longer blue. He arrived at CHOPs emergency room where they attempted to place him on a CPAP but ended up deciding to intubate him - once sedatives were placed he went into cardiac arrest.. after they were able to get a pulse back they ran him up to the CICU where he went into cardiac arrest again… at this point they decided ECMO was the best option for him.. right before putting him on ECMO he woke up, had a pulse, and decided to pee all over the nurses (what a ham).. they still went forward with ECMO to give him a break… after 8 long days on ECMO they decided it was time to decanulate him and se show his heart would do… and he came off smoothly and successfully! He is still intubated but he does wake up and watch us as we talk and play and love on him! Although he has made progress this is like climbing mountains… we may get to flat spots but there will be ups and downs we have to climb and it’ll seem like the end of the world some days.. he is such a warrior and we are so proud of how hard he continues to fight! He has so many people praying for him and I believe he is strong enough to get through this awful situation.
