While my sister was trying to convince me to start this page, she said “We are not meant to operate alone.” So we are humbly asking for some help. If you know Austin or I, chances are you know and love Penny. She is a 8 year old German Shepherd/Coonhound mix. She is nothing but energy and love with big brown eyes. She is extremely healthy and active dog that loves everyone. A few days ago I noticed her eyes and gums were yellow. This is a big indicator of a liver problem. We took her to a local animal hospital to learn her liver tests were through the roof and they didn’t have much hope or explanation. They referred us to Madison Vet Specialists for higher care. Penny has now been admitted and will be there at least two days receiving fluids, antibiotics and pain medication. She has had an ultrasound which has not shown much. They now will be giving her plasma to help her clot better and receive a needle biopsy. If they can not find an answer, she will then move to minor surgery to have a tissue biopsy of her liver. It was the hardest thing to walk away from her and leave her there. We are estimating to pay at least $5,000 for this care. To us, to have our Penny, it was an easy decision. But with Austin in school, and us having our first baby on the way due in November, things are tighter than we would like to admit. If there is any amount you would like to give, we would greatly appreciate the help. Please do not feel obligated to give a money gift. Prayers and good thoughts sent her way are also much appreciated. Thank you all for reading our story and thinking of us.
