Hi, my name is Jonathan Villanueva and my wife's name is Katherine Villanueva. We would like to introduce our 10-year-old son Tyler. Tyler has had a pretty difficult life, especially the last few years as his disabilities have started to hamper him from enjoying a somewhat normal life. Tyler is special and one of the most popular people you will ever meet in your life. Everyone and anyone who has ever met Tyler immediately falls in love with him. But Tyler has been in so much pain the last few years. Tyler suffers from... 1. Progressive Scoliosis( his spine is forcing him forward) 2. Dwarfism 3. Syndactyly (webbing of fingers and toes) Has had one major corrective surgery but will need another. 4. Hearing loss(wears hearing aids) Has had multiple surgeries to help correct issues and pain associated with his hearing loss 5. Vision problems (he wears glasses) 6. Spinal cord narrowing ( Where his neck and spinal cord meet it is extremely narrow and any bad hit in that area can cause him to be paralyzed) 7. Shallow hip joints ( Makes it so Tyler has a hard time walking and causes pain when he does walk) 8. Obstructive Sleep Apnea ( Causes him to wake up in the middle of the night with debilitating migraines- At the end of July he will be having another sleep study to determine what cpap machine will work at night for him.) As you can see Tyler has many issues he deals with in a given day. Tyler is going to need spinal surgery in the next year or so but we are not prepared for the upfront cost that aftercare is going to cost us. We have 3 other children (Hunter-17, Joey-15 & Lexi -12) and money is extremely tight as you can imagine. These are things we need your help getting......... 1. Ramps (Tyler uses a powerchair/walker right now and has difficulties going up stairs without help. He will be wheelchair-bound after his surgery) AROUND $5,000 to $6,000 2. Conversion Van ( Tyler will be in a Halo after surgery and will not fit in the current vehicle we have. Needs to be big enough for his powerchair and his family to fit, a family of 6) AROUND $75,000 3. Bathroom remodel (Tyler has difficulties getting in and out of the bathtub now and will need a walk-in shower/tub, also doorways and space to fit his wheelchair so he can get into the bathroom safely.) AROUND $30,000 4. Pool ( I know, you're thinking a pool?) The weightlessness allows him to be able to exercise without pain. Tyler does physical therapy twice a week and can only do 45 minutes and he is sore and exhausted. It puts a lot of stress on his body. Where in the pool he can exercise for hours and help him lose weight that is required for his upcoming surgery. AROUND $1,200 5. Custom shoes to fit around his ankle braces. He currently has braces but we are unable to find shoes wide enough, but small in length to fit around his braces, so custom shoes are our only option. AROUND $500 Please help, even if its just sharing our story. We feel like we're failing Tyler. We stay up many nights worrying about him and how we can get the things he most certainly needs.
